Mindset: Using it as a resource.

Updated: Mar 23, 2022

Life is about choices. I'm sure you've heard that before. However, have you ever truly revelled in the idea? Thought about all of the choices we make in everyday life?

Mindset refers to the how we think, feel, act. It relates to the choices we make. The things we care about. Therefore, your mindset is your own. You don't need to compare your ideals to those of others. We decide what our idea of success or failure is. Following these steps to help use your mindset to reach your ideal of success:

1 Adopt a growth mindset.

Too often we run into instances of a fixed mindset. One where we may think that change is Remember those choices. Make the choice to focus on growth. Go after the your goals and aspirations. Embrace the challenges and hurdles along the way. Don't look at things in regard to success or failure. Accept the middle ground, or the growth that comes with every experience.

2 Embrace failure.

Similar to adoption of a growth mindset. Embrace failure. Understand that failure is not end all be all. Instead reframe them as the obstacles or challenges required for success. Additionally, we all fail... that's right, we all fail. Funny thing is, failure is how we succeed. I recently heard a podcast that discussed how it's completely normal to be "bad" at something you just started. Our current landscape provides abundance of instant gratification. If you're hungry you can order food to be delivered, typically within an hour. If you want an item, you can utilize e commerce sites or Amazon to receive it in a day or 2. But when it comes to success, embracing failure, dropping the need for instant gratification. We must go after what we desire, even if we are bad at it and fail a million times. We must embrace the growth and press on.

3 Maintain positivity: Don't let the attitudes of others affect you.

This one refers to us making a conscious choice. A choice to not let the negativity or stress of others, affect our mood and mindset. Remember mindset is the key to success. When you choose to stay positive, even when those around you are not. That is not only a mature mindset, it showcases leadership.

4 Practice Gratitude: Aim for progress over perfection

When it comes to growth and success. It is important to focus on the progress made overtime. Aforementioned, it is okay to be bad at something when you first start. Lebron James wasn't born dribbling a basketball. Focus on the progress being made. Keep refining your craft, focusing on the growth you have achieved over time. Find gratitude in each and every step along the way to progress.

5 Have Confidence!

I know this one is mentioned a lot, but confidence is the key to many aspects of success. Without confidence many of the above points would be possible. Above all, have confidence in yourself. Have confidence that your failures do not define you. That other's ideas of you don't expound you.

Overall, make the choices to remain positive, have confidence and aim for progress and growth over perfection. Not saying that it is simple. Rather, take up the challenge, embrace the difficulties and frame your mindset to aim for your goals and aspirations. Go be bad at something so later you can be good!
